And exclusive interview with the director and lead actor of District 9. District 9 is in UK cinemas now. Over twenty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees from their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africas District 9 as the worlds nations argued over what to do with them. Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens welfare. MNU will receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens powerful weaponry work. So far, they have failed; activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA. The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when MNU begins evicting the non-humans from District 9, with MNU field agents responsible for moving them to a new camp. One of the MNU field operatives, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts an alien virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9.

Dr. Elmer Copley conducts the Hallelujah! Chorus sung by Lindsborg, Kansas' famous "Messiah Chorus", the Bethany College Oratorio Society. This was recorded on Easter Sunday 1981 when Bethany College, an ELCA Lutheran college, was celebrating its 100th anniversary. Handel's Messiah was first performed in Lindsborg in 1882, and has been every year ever since. Dr. Copley was the conductor from 1961 to 1988.

Hey Everyone I'm Chelsea Cannell, Thanks for tuning in to Clevver Movies! There have been many updates and a lot of chatter about District 9 Creator Neil BloomKamp's Next project Elysium. Naturally after the success of District, everybody's wanted a piece. Finally though, it seems like the project has settled at a studio and is gearing up for a possible April start. At first it appeared the producers were in negotiations to have universal pictures co-finance the film, but word broke today that Sony will now go it alone. Apparently, universal declined to take part in the new scifi pic but it doesn't much matter because BloomKamp couldn't be happier. In a recent statement Bloomkamp said he "literally couldn't be happier!" He then added, "I have a brilliant relationship with Sony, I loved them during district 9... they %100 get this film and they get me. Elysium is in very good hands!" The film appears to be on the fast track with Matt Damon and Jodie Foster and District 9 star Sharlto Copley already set to star. Definitely sounds like a Hollywood dream team to me.
